Bus Éireann Athlone

Bus Éireann Athlone is Ireland’s first all-electric, zero-emission bus depot, developed to support the transition to a more sustainable public transport network.

Located in Athlone, the facility provides the infrastructure required to support the operation and charging of a new electric bus fleet.

CJK acted as PSCS and main contractor, delivering the civil, structural and electrical works required to bring the depot into operation.

Scope of Work

  • Design, build, and installation of Ireland’s first all-electric zero-emission bus depot
  • Installation of 18 EV bus charging
  • New MV substation including 1.1MVA transformer
  • New LV switch room and associated electrical infrastructure
  • Construction of a new car park
  • Installation of public road ducting network in coordination with ESB
  • Grid connection and power infrastructure works
